Designed by renowned golf architect Brett Thomson together with former PGA Tour professional Phil Tataurangi, Tieke Golf Estate opened to visitors in 2022 following a complete redesign of the former Lochiel Golf Club.
Unlike traditional parkland courses, Tieke embraces a fast and firm style of golf inspired by the great links courses of the world. Golfers are encouraged to play creative bump-and-run shots, using the natural contours and sandy terrain to navigate around strategically positioned bunkers and native vegetation.
Fine fescue playing surfaces, creeping bentgrass greens, and free-draining sandy soils provide exceptional year-round conditioning. Every hole offers a fresh strategic challenge while showcasing spectacular views of the Waikato River valley.
